Stanford Defeats Saint Mary's, 5-0

STANFORD, CA -- The 16th-ranked Stanford women's soccer team shutout Saint Mary's, 5-0 before a crowd of 174 today at Harry Maloney Field on the campus of Stanford University. The Cardinal improves to 2-1 while the Gaels fall to 1-2.

Stanford, who outshot the Gaels 26-2 on the day, scored four first half goals to take a 4-0 lead into the break. Junior Tracye Lawyer led the offensive attack for the Cardinal, recording two goals and an assist on the day. Senior captain Emily Burt recorded a goal and an assist while senior Rita Hermiz assisted two assists.

The Cardinal will travel to Clemson, South Carolina to compete in the Clemson Classic on Sept.. 12 and 14. Stanford will face Clemson on Sept. 12 and SMU on Sept. 14.
