Stanford To Host Colorado College

Up Next: Stanford (3-5) will try to snap a four-game losing streak this weekend when it plays host to Colorado College ... The two teams will square off on Sunday at 3 pm at Stanford's Harry Maloney Field ... Colorado College holds a 5-2-1 advantage over the Cardinal ... Last season, Colorado College defeated Staford, 2-0 at the Santa Clara Nike Classic.

Last Time Out: After winning three of four matches to start off the season, Stanford has lost four in a row ... Then-fourth ranked Santa Clara defeated the Cardinal, 3-0 last Saturday in Santa Clara ... Stanford also dropped a pair of matches at the Stanford Nike Invitational on Sept. 19 and 21 ... New Mexico defeated the Cardinal, 1-0 in overtime, while Wake Forest beat Stanford, 2-1.

About Stanford: The Cardinal is 0-5 when it scores one goal or less ... Stanford is 3-0 when scoring two or more goals ... In seven outings this season, the Cardinal is outshooting opponents, 110-66 while Santa Clara is the only opponent to outshoot Stanford.

Leading the Cardinal: Senior captain Emily Burt is one of the top forwards in the conference ... She ranks 10th in the Pac-10 in total scoring (10) and eighth in goals scored (4) ... Burt leads the squad in total points and goals while tying for the lead in assists (2).

Pac-10 Play: Stanford will look to capture its third-straight conference crown when it opens conference play on Oct. 10 ... The Cardinal will host USC on Oct. 10 at 4 pm and UCLA on Oct. 12 at 1 pm ... The wiiner of the Pac-10 Conference will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament ... For the first time, all 10 conference schools will field a women's soccer team.

Head Coach Steve Swanson: Swanson is entering his second season at the helm of the Stanford women's soccer program ... He previously served as the head women's soccer coach and assistant director of athletics at Dartmouth College from 1990-95 ... In his first season on The Farm, Swanson led the Cardinal to a first place finish in the Pac-10 and a berth in the 1996 NCAA tournament ... The Cardinal finished the season with a 12-9-0 record, including a 6-1-0 mark in conference play ... Four members of Swanson's 1996 squad earned All-Pac-10 recognition while Erin Martin earned Pac-10 Player of the Year and All-American honors.
