STANFORD, Calif.- No. 12 Stanford defeated Santa Clara 5-2 on Wednesday in a rare midweek evening match at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Improving to 8-1 at home on the year, the Cardinal (12-3, 5-1 Pac-12) has now won eight of its last nine matches overall.
Santa Clara (11-8, 3-1 WCC) has dropped four of its last six contests.

After Santa Clara booked its first point at the No. 4 spot, Stanford moved in front 2-1 following a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory from Krista Hardebeck.
Kristie Ahn's 6-1, 6-2 win on court two over Kelly Lamble increased the Cardinal's edge to 3-1.
Natalie Dillon then provided the clincher, coming through with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Maggie McGeorge at the No. 6 position.
