STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford permitted six unearned runs to No. 5 Oregon State, which proved to be the difference in a 10-4 setback as the Beavers clinched the Pac-12 Conference baseball series Saturday at Sunken Diamond.
The Beavers snatched the series by winning their second straight over the 19th-ranked Cardinal, which has now dropped four straight heading into Sunday's finale slated for 1 p.m. (PT).
Two Stanford errors led to six unearned runs, as Oregon State posted a four-spot in the third and added two more in the sixth.
Oregon State (40-8 overall, 19-4 Pac-12) did not score an earned run until the sixth, but had already built a 6-0 lead heading into the stanza. The Beavers relied on Andrew Moore to limit Stanford (26-19, 11-12) to six hits in the first 6.0 frames. Moore improved to 10-1 while the only blemish on his ledger was a two-run homer by Austin Wilson in the sixth.
Wilson's shot down the leftfield line stayed fair long enough to put Stanford on the board and was one of eight Cardinal hits.
The home run cut into Oregon State's lead, 8-2, and snapped Moore's streak of 23.0 consecutive scoreless innings.
Oregon State saw three players notch three hits apiece, led by Dylan Davis' 3-for-5 showing as the right fielder added five RBI.
Brian Ragira, who went 4-for-4 in game one, paced Stanford with a pair of hits.
John Hochstatter (3-3) lasted 2.2 innings in his start and gave up four Oregon State hits. Hochstatter got Michael Conforto to line into a 4-6-3 triple play to end the first. It was the second triple play induced by Hochstatter this season, as the Cardinal also pulled off the feat in the first inning of Hochstatter's start against Texas.
Stanford added a pair of runs in the ninth after it fell behind, 10-2. Brett Michael Doran belted a solo home run in the ninth for his second pinch-hit dinger on the campaign. Two of Doran's three hits have been good for round-trippers.
Brian Guymon singled and scored in the ninth.
