STANFORD, Calif.- Sophomore Ellen Tsay has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for May 13-19.
The honor is the first of Tsay's career and first for a women's tennis player since Nicole Gibbs back on May 28, 2012.
A native of Pleasanton, Calif., Tsay provided the clincher in Stanford's 4-3 upset of No. 5 USC during the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships in Urbana, Ill. It was the team-best seventh clincher of the year for Tsay, who outlasted USC's Gabriella DeSimone 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot with the match tied at 3-3.
Two days later, Tsay defeated Ayaka Okuno 6-1, 6-2 as Stanford rolled to a 4-1 win over Georgia in the quarterfinals.
