STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 13 Stanford softball team continued its hot hitting streak, defeating Santa Clara 11-3 in six innings, Tuesday, at Smith Family Stadium. The win improves the Cardinal to 36-17 overall. The Broncos drop to 8-46.

After relieving senior pitcher Teagan Gerhart in the third inning, sophomore pitcher Nyree White recorded her third win of the season, without allowing a run and giving up just five hits. She is now 3-1 on the season. Santa Clara's Ciara Gonzales (3-13) took the loss, giving up four runs on five hits in 2.0 innings.

Seven of the Cardinal starters registered at least one hit in the game as the offense exploded up and down the lineup. Freshman first baseman Kayla Bonstrom led the team offensively with four hits, including two doubles and two singles, four RBI and a run scored. Senior shortstop Jenna Rich belted a two-run home run, and sophomore right fielder Cassandra Roulund followed up with an immediate solo home run in the third inning. Sophomore designated player Erin Ashby added two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored.

Stanford scored 11 runs on 14 hits, taking advantage of one Santa Clara error in the bottom of the second inning. In addition to Bonstrom's four hits, Rich and Roulund's back-to-back jacks and Ashby's two doubles, sophomore third baseman Hanna Winter led off the game with a triple and also recorded an RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore left fielder Leah White hit a line drive single in the third inning to score senior second baseman Tegan Schmidt, and added a bunt single in the fifth inning.

The Cardinal scored its final two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Bonstrom's walk-off two-run double, her 10th double of the season. She leads the team with a .409 average.

Sophomore Alyssa Lombardo pinch ran for Ashby in the second inning and scored a run. Sophomore Tylyn Wells pinch hit in the sixth inning for Winter and recorded an infield single.

The Cardinal will resume Pac-12 play in a three-game series against Arizona on Thursday, May 9. The game will be aired live on the Pac-12 Networks with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
