BOULDER, Colo. – Second-half goals by Courtney Verloo and Taylor Uhl propelled No. 2 Stanford to a 2-0 victory over Colorado in a Pac-12 women’s soccer opener Saturday.

Four-time defending champion Stanford (8-0-1 overall, 1-0 Pac-12) extended its conference winning streak to 43 and its Pac-12 road winning streak to 23. The result also kept Stanford unbeaten in its past 13 conference openers.

Verloo, who scored a hat trick in her last match and is the reigning NSCAA national player of the week, opened the scoring in the 57th minute. A free kick led to a shot and rebound that Verloo converted for her sixth goal of the season.

Uhl followed in the 67th minute for her team-leading ninth goal of the season. Verloo pushed toward the goal from the left side before sending a centering pass to Uhl, who knocked the ball inside the right post to clinch the victory.

Uhl now has scored in five of her past six matches and has eight goals in that span.

Freshman goalkeeper Jane Campbell earned her second collegiate shutout, improved her record to 6-0-0 and dropped her goals-against average to 0.48.

The Cardinal also improved to 5-0-0 all-time against Colorado, outscoring the Buffalos 13-2 in the series.

Stanford returns to action Friday with its conference home opener against Arizona at 4 p.m. at Cagan Stadium, and then entertains Arizona State on Sunday at 5:30 p.m.
