Sixth at SMC Intersectional

SAINT MARY'S CITY, Md. - Stanford’s sailing team fought challenging conditions to finish sixth this weekend at the Saint Mary’s (Md.) Fall Intersectional regatta.

In a field consisting of 18 teams, the Cardinal finished with 295 points and just outside the top five, edged by Dartmouth which finished fifth with 289.

Stanford’s division-A team, led by senior skipper Mateo Vargas and crewed by classmate Tally Buckstaff, finished sixth after earning 158 points, including five top-five finishes and 10 placements in the top 10.

Freshmen Reinier Eenkema Van Dijk and Nicolette Obel earned a fifth-place finish in division-B with a score of 137. The duo compiled 14 top-10 finishes, including six in the top five and one victory.
