Cardinal Takes Fourth

STANFORD, Calif. – Mariko Tumangan’s team-low 70 steadied Stanford to fourth place Sunday at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Condoleezza Rice. Tumangan tied for 13th overall and Mariah Stackhouse notched a tie for fifth as the Cardinal women’s golf team closed out the lone home event of its fall season.

Playing at 6,130 yards, the event at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course showcased some of the finest talent in collegiate golf. USC defended its title and claimed first with a tournament-record 21-under (276-272-283). UCLA’s Alison Lee earned medalist honors at 7-under (69-67-70, 206) on the weekend.

Tumangan was even for the tournament and drained pars on the final 11 holes of the third round.

Tumangan shared the 13th spot with Lauren Kim, whose final-round 72 came after respective scores of 71 and 70 to begin the tournament.

Stackhouse followed rounds of 68 and 69 with a 72, sitting at 2-over through 12, when she then birdied the par-4 15th for the second time in as many rounds en route to a 4-under on the weekend. Stackhouse birdied the par-4 second three times.

Casey Danielson checked in at 43rd with a 221 and Quirine Eijkenboom was tied for 54th at 225.Both Danielson and Eijkenboom shot 73 on Sunday.

Marissa Mar (72-71-75, 218, +5) tied for 23rd.

The Cardinal wraps up its fall season next week when it travels to the Nanea Pac-12 Preview (Nov. 4-5) in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. Live results will be available at GoStanford.com.
