Second Through Two Rounds

DALLAS – With a collective 15-under through two rounds at the men’s golf Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, Stanford stands within striking distance of leader Oklahoma State heading into the final day of competition at the par-71, 7,068-yard Royal Oaks Country Club.

Stanford followed a 349 on Monday with a second-round 346, sitting behind Oklahoma State’s 21-under 689.

New Mexico (14-under), host Baylor (12-under) and Southern Methodist (11-under) round out the top five.

Through 36 holes, Cameron Wilson is tied for third at 6-under with David Boote checking in at 5-under in a tie for fifth.

Both Wilson and Boote carded a second-round 67.

During his second round, Boote went birdie-bogey-birdie-eagle-bogey on holes two through six before closing with a birdie to finish 4-under.

Wilson went 69-67 and did not bogey a single hole on the back nine. Wilson birdied eight different holes through his two rounds.

Jim Liu carded a first-round low for Stanford with a 68, featuring five birdies and one double bogey. Liu was 4-under before his double bogey on the par-4, 475-yard 13th. He would bogey the hole in round two.

Three birdies and a pair of bogeys left Patrick Rodgers at 1-under through his first 18. Starting his second round at hole 13, Rodgers birdied the par-5 14th, bogeyed the par-4 17th and knocked in pars on the following 14 holes.

Rodgers is tied for 26th while Viraat Badhwar is tied for 33rd after rounds of 72-70. Patrick Grimes is tied for 37th at 1-over.

Tuesday’s action gets underway at 6:30 a.m. (PT), with an awards ceremony immediately following play. Live results will be available at GoStanford.com.
