Chiney Ogwumike Claims Muscle Milk Honor

Chiney Ogwumike of the Stanford women's basketball team captured her second straight Muscle Milk Athlete of the Week honor, being recognized for her performance over the week of Dec. 29-Jan. 5.

The honor is the second of the year for Ogwumike and the women's basketball team, and the eighth of her career.

The Cypress, Texas native helped lead the Cardinal to a home sweep of Oregon and Oregon State last weekend, in the process reaching another career milestone. With 14 rebounds Friday against the Ducks, Ogwumike became the Pac-12's all-time leading rebounder, passing former teammate Kayla Pedersen's benchmark of 1,266.

Ogwumike averaged 32.0 points and 13.5 rebounds while shooting 59.6 percent over the two wins. On the year she averages 26.6 points and 11.6 rebounds a game while shooting 62.6 percent from the field.

Fourth-ranked Stanford makes its first trip of 2014 this weekend, visiting Utah Friday before heading to Boulder to face the No. 17/18 Buffaloes Sunday afternoon.
