Cruising In Season Opener

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 41 Stanford cruised past Pacific 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium in the season opener for both teams.

Stanford (1-0) captured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. The Cardinal, which won the doubles point in all but seven matches last year, picked up a 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot before the top team of John Morrissey and Maciek Romanowicz booked a 6-4 win.

Anthony Tsodikov, who compiled a team-best 8-3 record during the fall season, continued his strong play with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 6.

Trey Strobel followed with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court five to give Stanford a 3-0 advantage.

Maciek Romanowicz provided the clincher with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position.

Pacific collected its only point at the No. 1 spot as Sem Verbeek outdueled Morrissey 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Stanford is back in action this weekend, competing at the Sherwood Cup.
