Play Day Offers Season Preview

STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford will play host to an informal five-team tournament on Sunday that will offer fans a preview of the NorCal portion of Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's lacrosse.

The Stanford Play Day includes California, Fresno State, Saint Mary's, and UC Davis, in addition to the Cardinal. Play begins on two fields at 9 a.m. Each team will play four 50-minute games with a running clock.

Field One is the grass practice field on the El Camino Real side of Laird Q. Cagan Stadium. Field Two is the artificial turf field next to the Steuber Family Rugby Stadium. The fields are about 200 yards apart.

The five teams make up half of the 10-team MPSF. Stanford tied with Cal for second in the 2013 regular season, but went on to win the conference tournament. The Cardinal (14-6 last season overall) return 11 of 12 starters from the team that beat Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
