Shutting Out Santa Clara

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 2 Stanford collected its third shutout of the year, blanking No. 56 Santa Clara 7-0 on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Playing its first match in 13 days, the Cardinal (5-0) looked sharp throughout and experienced little trouble in putting away the Broncos (1-2).

After quickly securing the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, Caroline Doyle posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 spot before Carol Zhao followed with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the No. 3 position.

Ellen Tsay then provided her fourth clincher of the year with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court four.

Stanford is back in action on Thursday, Feb. 20, hosting Saint Mary’s at 4 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for last Saturday but was postponed due to rain.
