Stanford Strong in Prelims

OXFORD, Ohio – The Stanford synchronized swimming team began the 2014 U.S. Collegiate Nationals with a strong showing, Thursday, at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on the campus of Miami (OH) University in Oxford, Ohio.

The Cardinal finished in the top-10 in the prelims of the solo, duet and trio events. Sophomore Carolyn Morrice took seventh in the solo with a 78.500. Lindenwood’s Mary Killman, the Olympic duet partner of former Cardinal Mariya Koroleva, finished first with an 89.850.

In the duet, junior Megan Hansley and sophomore Evelyna Wang posted an 85.300 to secure third place. Stanford’s rookie duo of Isabella Park and Marisa Tashima were fourth with an 83.500. Lindenwood again secured the top spot as Killman and Reem Abdalazem scored an 87.950.

In the trio, Hansley and Wang were joined by senior Leigh Haldeman to score an 85.150, taking fifth. Park, Tashima and sophomore Mina Shah were seventh with an 82.100. Lindenwood’s Killman, Anouk Eman and Dennise Ramirez won with an 87.250.

The 2014 U.S. Collegiate Nationals continue on Friday, March 21 with the finals taking place on Saturday, March 22.
