RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Stanford sits five shots behind leader UCLA through one round of the San Diego State Farms Invitational. The 17-team field played the first 18 of the 54-hole women’s golf event Monday at The Farms Golf Course, a par-72, 6,237-yard track north of San Diego.
UCLA carded a 3-under 285, with Stanford checking in with a 2-over 290. Host San Diego State is third at 4-over.
Lauren Kim, Mariah Stackhouse and Casey Danielson each shot par or better in their respective opening rounds, as Mariko Tumangan (+7) and Marissa Mar (+11) were among the top-75 individuals.
Kim’s 3-under 69 put her in a tie for fourth. Stackhouse sits alone in sixth with a 2-under 70, and Danielson is tied for seventh with an even-par 72.
Stackhouse notched a round-one best 3-under on par-4 holes. Kim’s six birdies were the second most among the field.
Stanford tees off at 9:39 a.m. (PT) on Tuesday, swinging side by side with UCLA and San Diego State.
