Stanford Regrips Lead

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford withstood steady showers throughout the day and shot 1-over at The Goodwin, its lone home tournament of the spring season. The 281 at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course was good enough to help the Cardinal maintain its lead over the 18-team field.

Stanford (-11) leads second-place UCLA by six strokes, with Oregon in third at 2-under. Washington maneuvered its way into fourth with a 7-under Saturday.

The three-day, 54-hole event concludes Sunday morning at 8 a.m. (PT). Live results will be available at GoStanford.com.

Patrick Rodgers buried a 22-footer on 18 for one of his two birdies on the back nine to finish the day at 1-under. The junior remains ahead of all players with an 8-under through two rounds. Should Rodgers hold on to his lead through Sunday, it would give him a third straight victory and two shy of Tiger Woods’ school-record 11 career titles.

Maverick McNealy shares second with USC’s Rico Hoey at 5-under, with both players shooting a second-round 69. McNealy stumbled on 15 with a triple bogey but answered with three straight birdies to close his day.

Cameron Wilson went 1-under on the back nine to finish at even-par. He moved up five spots into a tie for 12th with eight others at 1-under for the tournament.

Viraat Badhwar’s eagle on the par-5 seventh put him at 1-under into the turn, eventually finishing with a 3-over 73.

David Boote had birdies on 16 and 17 to aid his 74.
