Now Unbeaten Through 13

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 5 Stanford remained perfect through 13 matches, defeating No. 19 Arizona State 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal (13-0, 5-0 Pac-12) has now won 19 consecutive matches dating back to last year’s NCAA championship run.

Doubles play was over very quickly, with Stanford claiming a 1-0 lead after easy victories at the top two spots of the lineup.

Stanford then secured the match with strong play on the back courts. After Caroline Doyle (6-1, 6-1) and Taylor Davidson (6-3, 6-2) chalked up victories for a 3-0 lead, Ellen Tsay provided the clincher with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Ebony Panoho at the No. 5 spot.

Arizona State (16-4, 3-2 Pac-12) received its only point of the match when Desirae Krawczyk outlasted Krista Hardebeck at the No. 2 position 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5), snapping Stanford’s string of four consecutive shutouts.

Stanford returns to action next weekend, hosting UCLA on Friday (1:30 p.m.) and USC on Saturday (12 p.m.) in pivotal matches that will likely determine this year’s conference champion.
