STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford field hockey’s Lauren Becker was named the #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance this past weekend in victories against No. 18 Delaware and Liberty.
Becker, a communication major, scored a team-best three goals over two games and was a constant threat in the offensive zone. She scored twice against Delaware and registered the game-winner against conference rival Liberty.
Becker’s goals against Delaware:
Becker became the first #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week in 2014 after receiving the most votes in the inaugural @GoStanford Twitter poll. Among the four Cardinal student-athletes to choose from, #VoteBecker received the most votes.
It is the second consecutive year a field hockey player has earned the Student-Athlete of the Week award in the first week of the school year after Hope Burke did so in 2013.
Fans can participate in the weekly poll on Mondays with results revealed on Tuesdays.
