EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 1 Stanford women’s volleyball team swept No. 12 Oregon, 25-23, 25-21, 25-21, Sunday, at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore. The Cardinal moves to 22-0, its best start to a season since 1991, and 12-0 in the Pac-12, while the Ducks drop to 17-5 and 7-5 in the conference.

Junior Jordan Burgess, a human biology major from Fort Myers, Fla., led the Cardinal with 15 kills on a .371 hitting percentage and 11 digs. She now has a team-best 13 double-doubles on the season. Senior opposite Morgan Boukather hit a match high .625 (11-1-16) and also collected five digs and three blocks.

Junior setter Madi Bugg directed the offense, racking up 43 assists to go with eight digs and a solo block. Junior middle blocker Inky Ajanaku was one of her favorite targets as she tallied 11 kills on 23 swings to hit .348. Redshirt freshman middle blocker Merete Lutz added six kills and five blocks.

Defensively, senior libero Kyle Gilbert and junior Brittany Howard registered 10 digs apiece. As a team, Stanford hit .319, while Oregon hit .232. Stanford held an 8.0-3.0 advantage in the block column.

Junior Martenne Bettendorf led the Ducks with 13 kills, while middle blocker Kacey Nady added nine kills. Sophomore libero Amanda Benson had 12 kills.

Stanford returns to The Farm next week to play host to No. 19 Arizona State on Wednesday, Nov. 5 and No. 15 Arizona on Friday, Nov. 7. Both matches are slated for 7:30 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
