STANFORD, Calif. – No. 7 Stanford remained unscathed in dual meet competition on the season with a 171-83 win Saturday over visiting Pacific. The men’s swimming team improved to 3-0 overall after its first competition in the latter half of the 2014-15 campaign.
Stanford registered the fastest time in each of the 14 events contested at Avery Aquatic Center.
The Cardinal puts its undefeated record on the line when it travels to the desert for a Pac-12 Conference double-dip at Arizona (Jan. 23) and Arizona State (Jan. 24).
Stanford took the 200-yard medley (1:29.49) and 200-yard freestyle (1:22.05) relays for bookend wins.
Liam Egan’s 9:21.05 copped the 1,000-yard freestyle. Gray Umbach went 1:39.08 to be the first of seven Cardinal to touch in order in the 200-yard freestyle.
Andrew Liang won the 100-yard backstroke in 50.33 and David Nolan took the 100-yard breaststroke with a 55.28.
More wins came from Tom Kremer in the 200-yard butterfly (1:48.22) and Thomas Stephens in the 50-yard freestyle (20.76). Kremer’s 45.00 gave him another individual win in the 100-yard freestyle.
The winning streak continued with Curtis Ogren’s 1:50.26 in the 200-yard backstroke, Daniel Le’s 2:04.83 in the 200-yard breaststroke and Egan turned in the daily-double after finishing the 500-yard freestyle in 4:31.73.
Nolan took top honors again in the 100-yard butterfly (47.83) and Umbach’s 1:50.22 was the fastest in the 200-yard individual medley.
