Stanford Takes Down UNLV

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 36 Stanford coasted past UNLV 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford (2-2) captured the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, rallying to win at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots. Falling into an early hole, the Cardinal posted 7-5 victories in its final two matches, highlighted by the clincher from Nolan Paige and Trey Strobel on court three.

Singles play was dominated by the Cardinal, which booked victories at five of six spots.

Playing in only his fourth career dual, Yale Goldberg stretched Stanford’s lead to 2-0 following a 6-1, 6-0 triumph against Ozzy Abraham at the No. 6 position.

Moved up to the No. 4 spot, David Wilczynski added a 6-0, 6-4 victory before Paige eventually secured the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ruben Alberts on court five.

UNLV (0-2) picked up its only point courtesy of Jakob Amilon’s 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Maciek Romanowicz at No. 3.
