STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford softball’s Lauren Bertoy led the Cardinal offensively to a 4-2 record at the Kajikawa Classic during the opening weekend of the season to earn #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
Bertoy hit .615 going 8-for-13 with three doubles and nine RBI. She finished the weekend with a .706 on-base percentage and an .846 slugging percentage.
Bertoy went 2-for-2, including a double, with three RBI and a run scored in a 10-0 five-inning win over Bradley. In a 10-9 win over Texas, Bertoy drove in four runs on two hits with another double. She also went 2-for2 with a run scored and a RBI in an 11-0 five-inning win against UTEP. Bertoy contributed defensively as well, making multiple highlight plays at second base.
Bertoy and Stanford will look to carry its momentum into this weekend's Stanford Nike Invitational when it takes on No. 3/4 Alabama, Cal Poly and Pacific.
