Cardinal Claims Another Trophy

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Stanford sailing team took home another first place trophy this past weekend at the Long Beach Gold Invite.

Making its second appearance of the Spring, the Cardinal went wire-to-wire over the course of the fourteen race event.

With a crew of Antoine Screve and J.P. Cannistraro, the Cardinal No. 1 team started strong and never looked back. Out of its first eight races, Cardinal No. 1 notched four victories, two runner-up finishes, and two third place finishes.

Cardinal No. 1 amassed a total of just 43 points for the fourteen races, finishing ahead of CSU Channel Islands and host Long Beach St.

The Cardinal No. 2 team had dissimilar fortunes, finishing twelfth in the seventeen team field. Cardinal No. 2 was manned by Julia Lambert and Yuki Yoshiyasu.

The Cardinal returns to action in two weeks, sending two teams to opposite sides of the country. One squad will compete in the St. Mary’s Women’s Interconference races in Moraga, California. The other will head east to race in the Graham Hall Team Race in Annapolis, Maryland.
