Stanford Leaves SoCal Empty

LOS ANGELES - No. 10 Stanford suffered a 6-1 defeat to No. 7 USC on Sunday afternoon to close out its SoCal road swing.

Stanford (9-4, 2-2 Pac-12) has dropped back-to-back matches for the second time this season. Each of the Cardinal’s four losses have come against top-10 competition.

USC (14-2, 3-0 Pac-12) captured the doubles point and secured the match with three quick wins in singles play.

Caroline Doyle’s 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Zoe Scandalis at the No. 3 spot prevented the shutout.

Stanford returns to action on Friday, March 27, at Arizona State in a 1:30 p.m. match.
