TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 13 Stanford completed a sweep of its desert road trip, breezing past No. 38 Arizona 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Stung by back-to-back losses last week in Los Angeles, Stanford (11-4, 4-2 Pac-12) rebounded with a pair of 6-1 victories against top-40 opponents, also taking down No. 24 Arizona State yesterday.
Leading 1-0 after winning the doubles point, victories by Taylor Davidson (6-1, 6-1) and Krista Hardebeck (6-1, 6-3) put the Cardinal on the brink of clinching the match.
Carol Zhao made it official with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot.
Arizona (13-3, 3-2 Pac-12) collected its only point when Inge Hendrikx defeated Lindsey Kostas 6-3, 6-3 on court six.
Next up for Stanford is a four-match homestand, which begins Friday against Oregon at 1:30 p.m. PT.
