STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sophomore Akash Modi was named the #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week for his standout performance this past weekend at the MPSF Championships.

It is Modi’s second #GoStanford Student-Athlete of the Week honor this year.

Modi delivered a season-best performance in the all-around and claimed three event titles to lead No. 2 Stanford to its fourth consecutive second-place finish at this year’s MPSF Championships. He claimed MPSF titles in the all-around (90.400), parallel bars (15.650) and floor (15.500).

Modi was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Year for the second consecutive season, as announced Saturday at the conference championships.

Modi has had an outstanding sophomore campaign, leading Stanford with 20 individual event victories against NCAA teams: all-around (5), parallel bars (5), floor (4), pommel horse (3), rings (2) and high bar (1).

Modi led the nation with four College Gymnastics Association Gymnast of the Week honors and paced the MPSF with four Gymnast of the Week awards. He finished the regular season ranked first in the nation in the all-around (89.683) and parallel bars (15.533).

Stanford and Modi will have a week off before traveling to Norman, Oklahoma, for the NCAA Championships where it will pursue its sixth national title.
