STANFORD, Calif. – With the eighth and final spot in the MPSF playoffs on the line, the 14th-ranked Stanford men’s volleyball team came up short against No. 12 UCLA, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20, Friday, at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California. The loss puts the Cardinal (10-17, 7-14 MPSF) out of postseason contention for the first time since 2007.

UCLA (13-13, 9-13) hit .430 in the match and posted 9.5 blocks compared to just 3.5 by the Cardinal. The Bruins, which played their final regular season match on Friday have secured the No. 8 seed in the MPSF tournament.

Stanford, which hit .229 as a team, was led offensively by junior outside hitter Madison Hayden’s 14 kills on a .300 attack percentage. He also collected three blocks for 15.5 total points. Junior middle blocker Conrad Kaminski finished 5-0-7 to hit .714 and tallied two blocks.

Freshman setter Kyle Dagostino controlled the offense with 26 assists to go with four digs. Freshman libero Evan Enriques and redshirt sophomore Gabriel Vega each registered a match-high seven digs.

UCLA was led by J.T. Hatch’s 16 kills on a .444 hitting percentage, while Jake Arnitz finished with 12 kills and six digs.

Stanford closes out its season on Saturday, April 18 against No. 9 UC Santa Barbara. The Cardinal and Gauchos square off at 5:30 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
