USA Today Recognizes Garnett

STANFORD, Calif. - Senior offensive guard Joshua Garnett has been named to the USA Today preseason All-America football team for 2015, it was announced Tuesday.

Garnett, a 6-5, 321-pounder from Puyallup, Washington, was one of 11 selections to the first team offense. Previously, he was picked to the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list, the Outland Trophy watch list, the SI.com preseason All-America first team, the CBS Sports preseason All-America second team, and ESPN.com All-Pac-12 preseason first team.

In 2014, Garnett made 13 starts at left guard and helped the Cardinal offensive line rank 18th nationally in tackles for loss allowed (4.62/game) and 42nd in sacks allowed (1.77/game).

As a sophomore in 2013, Garnett played in 14 games and sparked a punishing ground game that ranked second nationally in rushing (207.4 yards/game), 11th in sacks allowed (1.14/game) and seventh in tackles for loss allowed (4.14 game).

Garnett was one of three freshmen to play on the offensive line in 2012, appearing in all 14 games.

A human biology major, Garnett was a five-star recruit by Scout and three-time all-state selection.
