STANFORD, Calif. – Goals by five players and a balanced team effort propelled No. 13 Stanford to a 5-1 victory against UC Davis Friday evening at the Varsity Turf.
The Cardinal (11-5, 3-2 America East) outshot the Aggies (7-11, 0-5 America East) 12-6 while holding a 3-1 advantage in penalty corners. Clemence Couteau led Stanford with a goal and an assist and Maddie Secco picked up her team-leading ninth assist and 21st point.
Katie Keyser got things started in the 17th minute with her second goal of the season. Couteau set up Casey Deeds’ third of the season in the 33rd minute. She joined the action a minute later, scoring on a loose ball in the Aggies’ circle for Stanford’s third and final strike of the half.
In the 57th minute, the Cardinal was awarded a penalty shot, which Lauren Becker converted for her fourth goal of the season. Kristina Bassi made it 5-0 in the 63rd minute, deflecting a Secco’s shot past UC Davis goalkeeper Erica Cohen. The Aggies were able to score a consolation goal in the 69th minute to make it 5-1.

Dulcie Davies was only required to make one save and was replaced in the 61st minute by Maddy Belin, who also finished the night with one save.
The Cardinal returns to action Friday, hosting Pacific at 6 p.m. at the Varsity Turf. Stanford’s six seniors will be honored prior to faceoff for Senior Day.
