STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Reid Travis collected a game-high 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cardinal to a 40-24 victory over the White during the men’s basketball’s team’s intra-squad scrimmage open to the public at Maples Pavilion Sunday.
In the 20-minute scrimmage that offered an exciting glimpse into the 2015-16 squad, the team put on a show for the fans at Maples. At the conclusion of the scrimmage, the team welcomed everyone to the court and hosted a basketball clinic for children of all ages.
During the scrimmage, the Cardinal seized the early advantage and held off a hard-charging White team down the stretch.
Travis shot 5-of-11 from the field and connected on five free throws to go along with his 10 rebounds, while the freshman duo of Cameron Walker and Marcus Sheffield each contributed eight points for the Cardinal. Walker and Sheffield were a combined 5-of-6 from three-point range. Fellow freshman Josh Sharma added six points for the Cardinal squad.
Senior Rosco Allen guided the White team with 13 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Sophomore Robert Cartwright registered four points, while dishing out several assists for the White squad.
Stanford, under the direction of Head Coach Johnny Dawkins, opens the 2015-16 regular season at home against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Friday, Nov. 13 at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal will play its first three games at home with contests against Charleston Southern on Sunday, Nov. 15, and SMU on Thursday, Nov. 19.
