Stanford Weathers Washington

SEATTLE – Stanford scored three unanswered second-half goals in a 16-minute span to earn a convincing 3-0 victory at Washington on a rain-drenched evening in Seattle.

Jordan DiBiasi scored the game-winner in the 61st minute, and Haley Rosen and Alana Cook added a goal apiece to secure the victory.

The Cardinal (14-2, 8-0 Pac-12) controlled a majority of the possession and was relentless in the attacking third, generating 19 shots despite challenging field conditions with rain falling throughout the duration of the match.

Stanford's defense played well, limiting the Huskies (11-4-2, 4-3-1 Pac-12) to 10 shots with just three on goal. Jane Campbell made three saves for her sixth shutout of the season. She has 26 career shutouts and is one behind Emily Oliver ('13) for fifth on Stanford's all-time list.

Stanford had a strong first half, outshooting Washington 8-4 and maintaining a majority of the possession but could not find the final touch needed to take the lead.

The Cardinal broke through in the 61st minute when Alana Cook carried the ball forward from her center back position. She distributed a short pass to Kyra Carusa with her back to the goal at the top of the 18-yard box. Carusa took a touch to control the pass, then laid the ball off for DiBiasi who hammered a right-footed shot to the top-right corner of the goal.

It is DiBiasi's second goal of the year and both have been game-winners.

Stanford continued its momentum with a second goal less than three minutes later. Mariah Lee carried the ball into the Cardinal's attacking third with pace. Lee slipped a pass to Rosen who was making a parallel run near the top of the penalty box and slotted a left-footed shot past the Huskies' goalkeeper.

The Cardinal continued to pressure in the offensive zone and was rewarded for its effort with a third goal in the 76th minute. Tegan McGrady lofted in a high cross from the right corner to the center of the 18-yard box. Washington's goalkeeper came out to knock the ball away but misplayed the cross.

The ball bounced once near the penalty spot before Cook outleapt her defender and headed in her second goal of the season.

The victory at Washington concludes Stanford's regular-season road schedule. The Cardinal wraps up the regular season with three home games beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. (PT) against USC, which is in second place in the Pac-12 – just three points behind Stanford. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
