STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Cal Quantrill earned third team Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America accolades from Collegiate Baseball News on Tuesday.
Quantrill was a Louisville Slugger and Perfect Game Freshman All-American before his sophomore season was cut short due to injury. Prior to the injury, the Port Hope, Ontario, native was 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA last season.
As a freshman, Quantrill was 7-5 with a 2.68 ERA in 17 starts, which included two complete games and 98 strikeouts in 110.2 innings. He earned All-Pac-12 honors and was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
Quantrill and the Cardinal open the season at home on Feb. 19 against Cal State Fullerton. Season and single-game tickets for 2016 will be available in January as Klein Field at Sunken Diamond completes several enhancements, including a new playing surface, entrance and clubhouse.
