SAN ANTONIO – The Stanford synchronized swimming team turned in another strong performance last weekend in a rescheduled meet against the University of Incarnate Word.
Splitting up personnel to help her freshmen gain valuable experience on the road, head coach Sara Lowe received a second from Clare McGovern in solo, wins from Erica Slavin and Sandra Ortellado in the duet (84.1667), Slavin, Ortellado and McGovern in the trio (83.9667), and Slavin, Ortellado, McGovern, Evelyna Wang, Marisa Tashima, Amanda Urke, Rachel Hyon and Isabella Park in the team free (84.0667).
“I was happy to see their progress in training shine through in the competition,” said Lowe. “We did not compete both our team routines, and this allowed us a good opportunity to focus on our team themed ‘Babel’ and work on some of the details in their routines.”
The group of Rina Horii, Shiree Lee, Dylan Harding, Mady Duboc, Joanna Langner, Elle Billman and Gillian Brassil finished second in the team free with a score of 80.5167.
Stanford will host the Stanford Invitational at the Avery Aquatic Center on March 4 at 3:15 p.m., and the Western Regional Championships on March 5 at 3 p.m. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
