STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford sailing team continued its steady run of form this past weekend, finishing sixth at the Emily Wick Trophy in New London, Connecticut, while taking second and fourth-place at the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference South Designate in Long Beach, California.
Freshman skipper Martina Sly and senior crew Yuki Yoshiyasu led Stanford to a sixth-place finish at the Emily Wick Trophy, winning the B-division with an impressive 36-point total over eight races. Junior skipper Maeve White and freshman crew Meg Gerli represented the Cardinal in the A-division, finishing 16th.
At the PCCSC South Designate, Stanford fielded two squads, finishing second and fourth in the 30-team field. Cardinal One, which finished runner-up to hosts USC, finished first in the A-division. Sophomore skipper Will La Dow and junior crew Nikki Obel represented Stanford in the A-field, while freshmen skipper Russell Clarida and freshman crew Maggie Schult took second in the B-division.
Cardinal Two finished fourth, led by sophomore skipper Julia Lambert and freshman crew Cassie Obel’s fourth-place finish in the B-division. Freshman skipper Mimi El-Khazindar and sophomore crew Elena VandenBerg added a sixth-place finish in the A-division.
Stanford returns to action this weekend, competing at the Presidents Trophy Women’s Regatta in Boston, and the Thompson Trophy in New London, Connecticut. Live results will be available at CollegeSailing.org.
