STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will be represented by Helena Scutt and Marion Lepert at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, as announced Wednesday by the United States Olympic Committee.
Scutt, a 2014 graduate, and partner Paris Henken were the first boat named to the United States Olympic team. Sailing in the 49erFX division, Scutt and Henken were the top American finishers at the 2015 49erFX World Championships, where they placed 20th.

They have been the top U.S. boat in eight other races since the start of 2015, and are the top-ranked U.S. team in their class. It will be the first Olympic appearance for the pair, who clinched a trip to Rio following the 49er World Championships in Clearwater, Florida, February 9-14.
Joining Scutt in Rio will be Marion Lepert, who took a leave of absence from Stanford after her freshman season (2013-14) to pursue her first Olympic Games. Lepert sealed her trip to Brazil at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia, chasing down 2012 Olympian Farrah Hall in the medal races. Lepert, a native of Belmont, California, will race in the RS:X division, a discipline of windsurfing which has been an event at the Olympics since 2008.
