STANFORD, Calif. – Another second half surge coupled with hat tricks from Dillon Schoen and Kelly Myers sent the 12th-ranked Stanford Cardinal past MPSF foe Colorado 12-10 Sunday afternoon at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

The first half saw Colorado (8-2, 3-0 MPSF) come out to pound 11 shots on Stanford (8-3, 3-1 MPSF), but Allie DaCar was on point again with four saves in the half to keep the ‘Buffs at bay. Stanford struck first in the third minute of action with Elizabeth Cusick putting away her ninth of the season. CU answered back four minutes later only to be met with four straight Cardinal goals with Kelsey Murray going back-to-back to take a 5-1 lead.

The Buffaloes started to piece it back together in the last seven minutes of action as they flipped the script to score four unanswered goals of their own to send the teams into the break knotted at five all.

The second half saw the Cardinal come alive, outshooting the Buffaloes 10-8, while stepping up to break up Colorado’s dominance on the draw control as it scrapped for six of the 13 draws. Goals were traded back and forth with Colorado scoring twice to take the lead in the first five minutes of play, but CU’s lead was met with brevity as Stanford ripped off three unanswered goals.

CU’s Darby Kiernan put up her second goal of the game which Stanford answered by adding three more goals to edge away from the ‘Buffs for good with four minutes remaining.

The Cardinal returns to MPSF action next Friday as they set to travel Oregon. Game time is set for 1 p.m. PT in Eugene, Ore. and will be aired on Pac-12 Networks.
