Cardinal Cruises Past Ducks

EUGENE, Ore. – Five goals from Kelsey Murray helped propel the 10th-ranked Stanford lacrosse team to a 14-2 win Friday afternoon over the Oregon Ducks at Pape Field. The win pushes the Cardinal’s winning streak in MPSF games to 14 dating back to 2014.

The first half saw Murray rip off a hat trick with her first goal doubling as the first goal of the game in only 11 seconds with a wicked assist coming from Elizabeth Cusick. The Cardinal (8-2, 4-0 MPSF) dominated the half, barely giving Oregon a chance at an offensive opportunity outdrawing the Ducks (8-4, 3-3 MPSF) 8-to-1 while dropping eight goals on UO, two from Kelly Myers to head into the break up 8-0.

The second half saw more from Stanford’s offense as it continued on its path to outshooting Oregon 31-to-13. Two more Stanford goals opened up the half, before Oregon scored the first of its two goals four minutes into the half. Anna Salemo joined the offensive melee in the half with two goals of her own while Monika Sivilli topped it all off with less than a minute to go after a dish from Charlotte Ward.

The Cardinal returns home on Monday where it will host California at 5 p.m. in Stanford Stadium. The Cardinal will also take the field in support of One Love. For more information on One Love please go here.
