GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Top-ranked Stanford lightweight rowing won all three of its races this past weekend at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Lake Natoma.
The Cardinal's top boat captured the varsity eight/open Grand FInal by open water on Sunday with a time of 6:45.8. San Diego State placed second with a time of 6:57.1, with Sacramento State (7:02.5) finishing third.
Stanford won the second varsity eight/open Grand Final by a couple seats over Sacramento State. The Cardinal completed the course in 6:57.0, just over a second a head of the Hornets (6:58.7).
The Cardinal also captured the novice eight/open weight Grand Final by open water with a time of 7:05.9, finishing 11 seconds ahead of second-place San Diego.
Stanford will return to Gold River, California on Saturday, May 14 to compete in the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships.
