STANFORD, Calif. - Rookie standout Tristan Beck earned Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball News, First-Team Freshman All-America accolades from Baseball America, and was named Perfect Game/Rawlings First-Team Freshman All-America.
Stanford's Friday night starter, Beck was the second freshman since Mike Mussina in 1988 to start on Opening Day for the Cardinal. He earned Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honors for that start, where he shut out No. 22 Cal State Fullerton in 6.1 innings en route to the first of his six wins in 2016.

Beck, who was named first-team All-Pac-12, led Stanford starters in ERA (2.48) and strikeouts (76), and was top 10 in the Pac-12 in each category. He was second on the team in innings pitched (83.1) and wins (6).
A native of Corona, Calif., Beck allowed the second-fewest home runs (2) and doubles (5) in the Pac-12, and allowed three or fewer runs in 13 of his 14 starts. He is the first Cardinal with 11 strikeouts in a game since former No. 1 overall MLB draft pick Mark Appel did so three years ago.
Beck is the first Cardinal to earn freshman All-America status since teammate Cal Quantrill did so in 2014. Prior to that, the last Stanford pitcher to earn the honor was current Toronto Blue Jays reliever Drew Storen in 2008.
