STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Tom Fawcett has been honored as an ITA All-American, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
In order to be selected as an ITA All-American, a singles player must be a top-16 seed or reach the round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship, or finish in the top 20 of the final ITA rankings.
Fawcett, coming off a phenomenal rookie campaign in 2015 that saw him post a 26-12 record and 14-7 in duals to claim the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award, stepped up to post an extraordinary sophomore season for an even better 16-6 dual record and 22-8 overall record.
Ranked as high as No. 3 during the season and finishing the season ranked No. 10, Fawcett also collected 15 wins over ranked opponents as the stalwart of the Cardinal offense in the No. 1 spot. Fawcett cemented himself as the lynchpin of Stanford’s success with a team-leading five clinching points on the year, including one over No. 14 Northwestern to advance the Cardinal to the Round of 16.
The Cardinal wrapped up its 2015-2016 season with its best finish since 2012 when it advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
