STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford football team selected five captains for the 2016 season, the program announced Sunday evening. They were outside linebacker Peter Kalambayi, running back Christian McCaffrey, strong safety Dallas Lloyd, offensive guard Johnny Caspers and defensive end Solomon Thomas.
The captains were picked by a player vote.
Lloyd, who transitioned to the defensive side of the ball prior to the 2015 season, is a fifth-year senior from Pleasant Grove, Utah. The 6-3, 213-pounder earned his undergraduate degree in science, technology and society, and currently is pursuing a graduate degree in communication.
Caspers is earning a graduate degree in Earth systems. The fifth-year senior is a native of Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
Kalambayi, who hails from Matthews, North Carolina, is a 6-3, 243-pound senior and communication major.
Thomas, a junior, came to The Farm from Coppell, Texas, and is studying communication.
McCaffrey, a 6-0, 200-pound junior, is majoring in communication. The product of Castle Rock, Colorado, was the 2015 AP Player of the Year.
