Two More Honors for Fitzmorris

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford middle blocker Audriana Fitzmorris has been selected the Pac-12 Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today.

The rookie averaged a team-high 3.50 kills on .520 hitting, 1.38 blocks and 4.44 points per set in Cardinal wins over then-No. 17 Illinois and then-No. 13 Penn State as a part of the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge in Boulder, Colorado.

In a five-set win over the Fighting Illini on Saturday, Fitzmorris recorded a career-high 20 kills with just one error on 34 swings to hit .559. She also collected seven blocks and ace against Illinois.

In Stanford's first sweep over Penn State since 2010, Fitzmorris posted eight kills on .438 hitting, again committing just one attack error, to go with four blocks and an ace.

It is the first offensive award for Fitzmorris and the second straight week Stanford now has 98 total player of the week honors. It also marks the 17th freshman of the week accolade for the Cardinal, which is the most all-time in the conference.

The Cardinal, which is now 3-1 on the season, plays host to the Stanford Invitational Sept. 9-11 at Maples Pavilion. Stanford will face No. 20 Purdue on Friday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network and Cal Poly on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
