Balanced Attack Leads to Win

MALIBU, Calif. - Eight different members of the No. 5 Stanford men's water polo team scored at least one goal as the Cardinal downed No. 8 Pepperdine, 9-5, Sunday afternoon at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.

Freshman Bennett Williams led the balanced attack with two goals, while Mitchell Mendoza, Blake Parrish, Cody Smith, Harrison Enright, Adam Warmoth, Sam Pfeil and Nelson Perla-Ward each contributed a score for the Cardinal.

Stanford scored three of the match's first four goals as Enright, Williams and Perla-Ward each found the back of the cage in the first six minutes of the contest.

The Cardinal built a 5-3 halftime advantage and never looked back from there, improving to 12-3 overall on the season with the win over the Waves.

Junior Oliver Lewis played the entire match in goal for the Cardinal, posting 12 saves.

The win was Stanford's second of the season over Pepperdine. On Sept. 24, the Cardinal posted an 11-9 victory over the Waves in the Mountain Pacific Invitational Berkeley, California.

Stanford will be in action next Saturday (Oct. 29) as Stanford travels to Los Angeles to face top-ranked UCLA in an 11:30 a.m. PT match televised on Pac-12 Networks.
