McCaffrey Named Semifinalist

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Christian McCaffrey was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, as announced Wednesday by the PwC Southern Methodist Athletic Forum.

McCaffrey is in the mix for the award dealt to the nation's top running back for the second straight year, as he was a finalist for the honor in 2015.

McCaffrey leads the Pac-12 Conference with 123.9 rushing yards/game. McCaffrey (3,434) is 89 yards away from passing Toby Gerhart (3,522) for third on Stanford's career rushing yards chart.

He ranks 14th nationally with 1,115 yards rushing.

To determine the 2016 finalists, members of the Doak Walker Award national selection committee will cast their votes after this week's games. Three finalists for the award will be named Nov. 22. The committee will cast a second vote to select the 2016 award recipient.

The award winner will be announced Dec. 8 on The Home Depot College Football Awards televised by ESPN.
