STANFORD, Calif. – The fifth-ranked Stanford women's squash team started the season by winning two of three matches last week during an East Coast trip.
On Friday, the Cardinal fell at fourth-ranked Princeton in a tightly contested battle, 6-3, in New Jersey. On Saturday, the team rebounded to blank Virginia, 9-0, at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Pennsylvania. Stanford closed out the weekend by beating Columbia, 7-2, in New York.
Freshman Casey Wong, junior Christie Huchro and senior Bailey Bondy posted 3-0 records.
"The team played very well," said head coach Mark Talbott. "Four matches against Princeton went five games and two were 11-9 in the fifth game. We look forward to playing them again, hopefully at the end of the season in the Howe Cup Championships."
Stanford (2-1) resumes competition on January 10 when it hosts Franklin & Marshall at 4 p.m.
