Comeback Falls Short

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 6 Stanford dropped a hard-fought 11-10 decision to No. 4 Pacific on Saturday morning at Avery Aquatic Center.

Stanford (12-5, 4-4 MPSF) was attempting to knock off its sixth top-10 opponent of the year. Instead, the Cardinal was dealt its fourth one-goal defeat of the season, two of which have come against the Tigers.

Sophomore Blake Parrish scored a game-high four goals while junior Cody Smith added two for the Cardinal, which travels to California next Saturday for its regular-season finale before the MPSF Championships get underway Nov. 18 in Los Angeles.

After Pacific jumped out to a 3-0 lead, Stanford responded with four straight goals, taking its only lead of the game at 4-3 during the 6:28 mark of the second period following Parrish's third score.

The Tigers countered with four unanswered goals, building a 7-4 halftime advantage.

Trailing 11-8, Stanford received late goals from Smith and freshman Bennett Williams in the final two minutes but was unable to produce the equalizer.

Seniors Adam Warmoth and Kyle Weikert were honored in a pregame ceremony.
