STANFORD, Calif. – Five Cardinal women's volleyball players were recognized today when Commissioner Larry Scott announced the annual Pac-12 Women's Volleyball All-Academic teams.
Earning Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention honors for Stanford were redshirt senior Inky Ajanaku, senior Kelsey Humphreys, redshirt juniors Merete Lutz and Ivana Vanjak, and sophomore Halland McKenna.
Ajanaku (Tulsa, Okla.) has already received her undergraduate degree in human biology and is on track to receive a master's in biology. She and Lutz (Houston, Texas, human biology) are three-time honorees.
Humphreys (Newport Beach, Calif., science, technology and society) and Vanjak (Bad Soden, Germany, chemical engineering) garner their second career accolades, while McKenna, who hails from Laguna Beach, California, is being recognized for the first time in her career.
To be eligible for the selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. Freshman and transfer students in their first season with a team are not eligible.
No. 9 Stanford, which received the No. 6 overall seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, begins postseason play on Friday, Dec. 2 against Denver. The Cardinal and Pioneers will meet at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion after Boise State and No. 20 Western Kentucky square off at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at gostanford.com/tickets or by calling 1-800-STANFORD.
