Stanford is a member of the Pac-12 Conference. The Pac-12 was formerly known as the Pacific-10 Conference (1978-2011) and the Pac-8 (1968-77). The Cardinal has also been a member of the Athletic Association of Western Universities (1959-67) and the Pacific Coast Conference (1916-58).
