SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The ninth-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 20-25, 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 win over Quincy, Friday, at the Thunderdome.
Stanford hit .360 as a team, while holding Quincy (0-2) to a .186 clip. The Cardinal served tough, racking up 13 aces. Opposite Matt Klassen led the way with five, while sophomore Jordan Ewert tallied four.
Ewert led all players with 12 kills and hit .500. Redshirt junior Colin McCall added 11 kills and a team-best seven digs, while middle blocker Kevin Rakestraw pitched in with 10 kills on .600 hitting and four blocks.
Junior Kyle Dagostino had setting duties in Stanford's second match of the day. The Tampa, Florida native totaled 40 assists, four digs and two blocks in the win. Klassen hit .357 with eight kills and two blocks, while libero Evan Enriques added six digs and three assists.
Quincy, which opened the season with a three-set loss to CSUN, had four players record at least seven kills. Setter Thane Fanfulik controlled the offense with 27 assists to go with four digs, four blocks and four aces for the Hawks.
Stanford closes out the weekend on Saturday, Jan. 7 against McKendree at 1:30 p.m. PT.
